The course for the formation of Jungian analysts is the responsibility of each regional Institute, always within the norms set up by AJB and in accordance with established requirements of the IAAP. Periodically, there is the opening of new groups. In accordance with AJB, all candidates for formation should fulfill the following prerequisites:
1) be a medical doctor or psychologist licensed at the Regional Council of Medicine or Psychology for at least two (2) years.
2) have a minimum of two (2) years in clinical practice in psychotherapy.
3) show proof of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of individual analysis, done within a maximum period of two (2) years with an analyst recognised by AJB.
4) show proof of a minimum of fifty (50) hours of clinical supervision in Analytical Psychology (individual or group) with an analyst recognised by AJB.
The formation process usually lasts for a duration of 4 years which includes theoretical study basically through class-room seminars, and practical training through supervision in both groups and individually. The formation is complete when the Training Analyst defends his/her monography after completing the former stages. The training analyst, after completing his/her formation then becomes a Member Analyst of the Jungian Association of Brazil-AJB and of the International Association for Analytical Psychology-IAAP (Zurich).
